Burr Reed

Spargahium erectum. Tough strap-shaped leaves and globe-shaped fruits particularly liked by birds. The stem will be eaten and hibernated in by several species of moth - like the Wainscot group. This reed can become quite invasive in a shallow muddy pond that dries up in summer.
