Cotoneaster

Cotoneaster

A prostrate, spreading form that can grow in dry conditions - great for covering drainpipes or unsightly sheds, fences etc. and producing lots of scented little white flowers that hoverflies and bees like in summer, then red berries in winter on long arching stems of small evergreen leaves. These berries, and the cover of woody stems are popular with Blackbirds, Thrushes, Blackcaps, Goldcrest and many others in the depths of winter. This plant should not be introduced into wild areas as it can spread rapidly and smother wild plants.
