Rhamnus cathartica.
One of the only two larval foodplants for the Brimstone butterfly. This shrub makes a neat hedge or will grow into a small tree with black berries. needs to be in a prominent, sunny place for the brimstones to find it.
Collecting and preparing the seed is laborious (hence price) as each one has to be washed away from the fruit flesh to simulate going through a bird's gut. This enables it to germinate, but could still need to go through one winter outside to break dormancy. Collected this year, at least 30 seeds in each packet.
