Wild Garlic Mustard

Wild Garlic Mustard

Alliaria petiolata. Hardy annual that will seed itself once you grow it. Medium height stems with large heart-shaped leaves topped with clusters of white flowers in early spring. Larval foodplant for the Orange Tip butterfly. will grow on waste ground in sun, or on woodland edges and banks. This is NOT the same plant as Wild Garlic or 'Ramsons' that is very invasive and has large white onion flowers; but like that plant, this one can be eaten like a herb; another name for it is 'Jack-by-the-Hedge'.
