Lotus corniculatus - This is one of the most important plants for any wildlife garden - it is the larval foodplant of the Common Blue and Dingy Skipper butterflies plus several moths. It is a great nectar source for these and other less commonly seen butterflies in gardens, and it is important for the high protein content of its pollen for our dwindling Bumblebees.
It gets it's name from the shape of the seed-pod and likes to grow in damp or dry conditions - but at the edge where it's not shaded out by taller plants.
