Broad-leaved Thyme
Thymus pulegioides as recommended by Mary Berry, this variety of culinary thyme has bigger leaves than the usual type so you get more flavour and less woody stalks when you chop it! It grows well in a bed of almost pure limestone chippings in my damp garden; it needs very sharp drainage.
