Oenothera spp. Hardy annual/biennial
Lovely scented, large pale yellow flowers that open spirally at dusk. Nectar plant for moths, (and therefore for Bats that eat the moths also!). Likes very dry growing conditions. Planted in a tub or near your patio you can enjoy the scent, and the moths, when you sit out there in the evening.
Sow in trays in early spring, Pot on when big enough to handle. If sown in Autumn they can flower on 2 to 3 foot stems the next summer.
