Calendula officianalis
The simple, gorgeous orange old English marigold or 'Pot Marigold' that seems to be difficult to find in garden centres these days - instead they have all those fancy double French and African marigolds, which are quite good for insects too, but so do the slugs love them!
These Old fashioned Marigolds are quite simple to grow from seed and will attract hoverflies and other pest-eaters to your veg. patch. You can then make hand-soothing cream from them and also eat the petals in salads.
The seeds look rather odd - as if they are different parts of the calyx! but just sow all the strange-shaped bits and they will grow!
