Pink Meadowsweet

Pink Meadowsweet

Filipendula rubra. This pink form of Meadowsweet will grow in drier places than the wild white one and twice as tall (up to 5 feet) it spreads by undreground rhizomes into a good clump, though not too invasively if kept fairly dry. It is also good in boggy places. A native of North America, where it's common name is "Queen of the Prairie". The leaves are a lovely red-edged fern shape on stiff stems even before the flowers in summer. Can have a second flush of flower if first are cut off. Herbaceous perennial, somewhat attractive to insects.
