Yellow Archangel

Yellow Archangel

(Lamium galeobdolon 'Florentinum' or  Lamiastrum galeobdolon 'Variegatum)
Common names: Yellow Archangel, Dummy Nettle, Weazel Snout.

This plant grows in damp woods and in shady hedgerows, but also in full sun and in a border rapidly spreads via trailing stems to form an attractive variegated ground cover. The erect flower stems grow to a height of 50 cm. The pair of oval leaves is placed exactly at right angles to the one above and below. The yellow flowers are hooded like the red dead nettle, but larger and more spaced out on a taller stem. Bees love the flowers in early Spring (April, May)
